It is better now than when I graduated in 1982, and it will be better 40 years from now. Our traditions grew over time. To me the Eyes of Texas song means that our best and brightest students are at UT now, our eyes our on them because we need them to be better than we were. Cure Cancer, event new technology, become leaders of the world. Nothing will change history. We can only learn from it. Tearing apart our Campus will not change History. BTW, I doubt that any of these young people know that the UT Tower and State Capitol both face South, to honor the Confederacy. How can they change that? May I suggest this group of excellent young students MAKE some history while at UT, and leave the song alone and Campus better than when they arrived.
