Implementing Mexican American Studies in Texas Public Schools: The Power of Culturally Relevant Pedagogy

Friends,

I and others will be in Houston soon to make a presentation on the power of Ethnic Studies.  If you're in Houston or the surrounding area and you consider yourself an advocate for Ethnic Studies, then this conference that provides you with the latest research together with a sense of how to carry forward this agenda in your school and district.

Worthy of note at the moment, as well, is Senate Bill 695, Texas' first Ethnic Studies bill in the 85th Legislative Session of the Texas State Legislature that you can read about on this blog here that also provides instructions on next steps.

Thanks to Dr. Lorenzo Cano for the invitation.

Looking forward to this.

  1. Absolutely, fabulous.

It really should be called Chicano Studies.
Mexican American is redundant as the Mexican people originate from Anahuac (Americas).

We must educate our people to not allow themselves to be treated as foreigners in our own land.
Latino highspanic, are both terms used by the invaders to make sure we are seen as foreigners.
