Thanks to Pedro Pedraza​ for sharing this piece by Richard Kearns which shows that "a majority of Puerto Ricans have Native blood." As U.S. Latinos from this continent and hemisphere, we all share in this.  Our mitochondrial DNA (the DNA inherited from our mothers that does not change over time) is indigenous.  This knowledge helps to connects us to our own roots, as well as to each other.

In the meantime, consider the relevance of this Nigerian proverb:  "Until lions have their historians, tales of the hunt shall always glorify the hunter."
