Research and VOTE!                                                             October 18, 2018

Educators work every day to educate and engage students. Now is the time to model this behavior by educating yourself on candidates and voting! Public education is the backbone of our communities, and a right of all Texans, as stated in Article 7 of the Texas Constitution. With early voting starting Monday, October 22nd, it’s time to research where candidates stand on public education issues such as funding, testing, accountability, teacher pay, healthcare, and retirement, and vouchers. TheTexas Educators Vote website can help you do this research, with links to non-partisan groups (Teach the Vote and League of Women Voters) that invite candidates to respond to questionnaires about their views on public education. Please be an informed and engaged citizen and encourage others to do the same. Let’s model civic engagement for the kids and be their voice at the polls.

To do:
2.     VOTE on Educator Voting Day, Monday, October 22nd.
3.     Encourage students to vote on Student Voting Day, Friday, October 26th.
5.     Share TEV FacebookTwitter, and Instagram posts, and tag us on yours!
6.     Wear your “I Voted” sticker and post on social media. Use hashtags #txed & #vote.
