UNM Chicana and Chicano Studies "Love Letter" Dec. 9, 2019

I am so happy to hear these youth talk about the value of Chicana and Chicano Studies in their lives at the University of New Mexico Albuquerque. Here's the write up:
"Our youths’ voices are powerful in New Mexico. Here is their Ethnic Studies Love Letter. 4 years ago Chicana and Chicano Studies established the College Preparation Program without any new funding from UNM. CCS students came together and requested support from legislators. Beginning this fiscal year, we believed CCS finally had permanent funding. However, the state’s bureaucracy terminated this status. UNM said it has asked the state to renew the funding on an annual basis but that the decision is in the hands of Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham. Please help us share this video so it can grab her attention. Please call the Governor (505-476-2200) and offer your support for the UNM College Preparation Program and Dual Enrollment courses in Chicana and Chicano and Ethnic Studies."
Congratulations go to Department Chair Dr. Irene Vasquez and her staff for this video, a testament to the incredible value that you add to UNM, the state of New Mexico, and the nation!
