If you can’t make it to the Texas State Capitol this week for the hearings, you can still follow along via the Live Broadcast Session Calendar for the first-called 89th (2025) Texas Special Legislative Session. This is where you can listen to all the testimony being shared on disaster preparedness, redistricting, and the compassionate use of medical marijuana. I appreciate the inclusion of the word “compassionate” in that title—may it guide the spirit of these discussions.
I’m also holding space for the Kerrville community and Camp Mystic families who are grieving an unspeakable tragedy. May compassion and justice extend to them, and to others in San Angelo, Travis County, and beyond, who are facing the heartbreak of loss and trauma.
What you’ll want to do is visit the Live Broadcast Session Calendar page and make sure to select "89(1)-2025" from the drop-down menu—this refers to the first-called 89th (2025) Texas Special Legislative Session.
