Msg. to High School Teachers: Make Sure Eligible Students and Staff Are Registered To Vote!

Choose wisely!                                                                                                                           October 3, 2018

October 9th is the last day to register to vote, and early voting is right around the corner. Make one last sweep to make sure eligible students and staff are registered to vote.  Being voter ready means making sure your registration is up to date and that you are informed about what and whom you will be voting on. As Franklin Delano Roosevelt wisely said: “Democracy cannot succeed unless those who express their choice are prepared to choose wisely. The real safeguard of democracy, therefore, is education.” The stakes are high in this election, with real threats to the future of public education. Being an informed and engaged voter is of utmost importance. It’s time to do your research so you can choose wisely!

To do:
1.     Share these links for people to check their registration status and/or register to vote
2.     Research candidates through links on our website to Teach the Vote and theLWVTX.
3.     Make sure staff and students know about any upcoming candidate forums where they can meet candidates and ask questions about issues that matter to them!
4.     Share key dates:
a.     October 9: Last day to register to vote
b.     October 22-November 2: Early voting
c.      November 6: Election Day
