Check out Sec. Duncan's discussion on the Today Show. In addition to some interesting statements regarding the role of teachers' unions and teacher candidates aspiring to to serve in high-needs schools, Sec. Duncan mentions that in the next ten years there is an estimated 1 million teachers who will be gone, nationally, due to retirement. This means new teacher candidates will need to be recruited into the field in the upcoming years, according to Duncan.
