Opportunity to overturn Citizens United with a bill sponsored by Texas State Senator Rodney
Ellis.
-Angela
Dear Texas MoveOn member,
The 2010 decision by the U.S. Supreme Court in the case of *Citizens United
v. Federal Election Commission* granted corporations the same political
free speech rights as living human beings. This decision gave virtually
unlimited power to corporations to influence elections and other civil
matters in our country.
*Only a constitutional amendment can overcome this state of affairs.* A
resolution has been submitted to both houses of the Texas Legislature
directing the U.S. Congress to initiate this amendment process. We need to
ask our representatives to pass this resolution.
That's why I created a petition on SignOn*.*org to the Texas State
Legislature, which says:
Support a Concurrent Resolution, SCR 2, filed by Texas State Senator Rodney
Ellis to overturn the U.S. Supreme Court's decision in the *Citizens
United*case.
*Click here to add your name to this petition, and then pass it along to
your friends.<http://www.moveon.org/r?r=284584&id=58499-21142894-1chSrZx&t=2>
