From Robert Reich who speaks wisdom about the new Democratic party that we need, namely an activist army of peaceful resistance. However, as a woman of color, it is still hard for me to not see what happened in America on Election Day "as a victory for hatefulness over decency." It seems that this can hold simultaneously with his central point here that "It is more accurately understood as a repudiation of the American power structure, including the old Democratic Party."
The rampant hatefulness, racism, and xenophobia are a testament to that. And yes, absolutely, the power structure did write off Bernie Sanders as an aberration without taking Trump seriously enough. It should be abundantly clear regardless that class matters enormously in America.
