The American Educational Research Association (AERA) recently announced that Dr. Angela Valenzuela, Associate Vice President of the Division of Diversity and Community Engagement, has been elected to a three-year term as member-at-large. Her term will begin at the conclusion of the 2010 Annual Meeting to be held April 30-May 4 in Denver, Colorado. As member-at-large, she will serve on the AERA Council, which is the legislative and policymaking body for the association. AERA is one of the most prominent international professional organizations and has more than 25,000 members.

The broad range of disciplines represented by the membership includes education, psychology, statistics, sociology, history, economics, philosophy, anthropology, and political science.
