Schoolhouse Rock - "I'm Just a Bill" 2016 and 2021 versions [videos]

Friends:

Thanks to Schoolhouse Rock, I am happy to provide you with enjoyable representations for children—and to some extent, for adults—on how a bill (or bill proposal) becomes a law in the U.S. Congress.

The first, 2016 video maps on well, albeit in the most general of ways, what happens in our state legislatures. The 2021 version adds complexity to how a bill becomes a law in the U.S. Congress.

You can view this link to learn about how a bill officially becomes a law from the perspective of the Texas State Legislature. If you scroll to the bottom of the document, there are helpful graphics in this document that outline the process. Not nearly as fun a Schoolhouse Rock, but nevertheless about how we do business in a democracy.

These are helpful instructional videos for elementary and secondary classrooms so that children and youth aren't left completely in the dark about what politicians are up to when they make laws, especially those impacting them.

Plus, one never knows what this might inspire. 😊

Enjoy!
