This blog on Texas education contains posts on accountability, testing, K-12 education, postsecondary educational attainment, dropouts, bilingual education, immigration, school finance, environmental issues, Ethnic Studies at state and national levels. It also represents my digital footprint, of life and career, as a community-engaged scholar in the College of Education at the University of Texas at Austin.
Black Studies and the DDCE are proud to partner with the Austin Area Heritage Council to kick off the 2023 MLK Celebration Rally and March. The annual event celebrates Dr. Martin Luther King’s legacy while uplifting diversity and multiculturalism in our city.
We’ll meet at the MLK Statue on the East Mall (23rd Street and Speedway) at 9 a.m. for a brief program. From the statue, we’ll march as a group to the State Capitol and hear from our local and state elected officials, and then we’ll proceed to Huston-Tillotson University for the annual MLK Community Celebration & Music Festival.
